Review
What a perfect way to end probably the best made movie series of all time. Return of the King has action, romance, heart, suspense and everything you could wish for in a movie. It wraps up everything perfectly and leaves the viewer completely satisfied.
Viggo Mortensen really shines as the main figure in the final film. Word is that he really became Aragorn on set mastering his sword and character. Props to Viggo.
Some may complain that the movie runs a little long towards the end, which it kind of does but I really don’t care. The main plot ends with about a half hour left and then the movie ties up all the loose ends which I really like. I would have felt disapointed if Peter Jackson didn’t put in the wedding scene or the hobbits returning home. It’s stays true to the book and that’s always a plus with me.
Most importantly though, the movie was finally awarded with the Oscar for Best Picture, an award that should have been won by the two previous films in earlier years. Ah, sweet vindication.
