Review
I love Ocean’s 11, the movie with Frank, Dean, Sammy, and the rest of the gang as thieves looking to rob a casino, even though it’s a stinker in regards to story. What saves it from the same cinematic dustbin as Sergeants 3 (also starring The Chairman, Dino, and Sammy) is a genuine sense of fun that seemed impossible to replicate until Steven Soderbergh apparently decided to make the film that the Pack was aiming for in between bouts of binge drinking and racist banter.
Danny Ocean’s a charming man who just happens to like robbing places of their available inventory or liquid assets. The day after he’s released from prison, he immediately begins to gather a crew of Hollywood types like Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and, er, Elliot Gould together to make sure that he strikes back at the man who’s made his life a living hell by robbing his joint, the Bellagio, and hopefully getting back his ex-wife who’s now engaged to the jerk. What follows is a lively adventure that leaves your rooting for the thieves while Andy Garcia’s casino owner thrashes and rages brilliantly. Perfect entertainment with just enough smarts to get it a solid 4 beers.
