Summary

An uptight English crime novel writer goes to France for inspiration on her next book. Instead, she enters a crazy world of sex, drugs and a real life murder all centered around a swimming pool.

Review

More proof that the French just see things differently than Americans. This movie was nominated for awards at the Cannes Film Festival and Cesar Awards among many others and Charlotte Rampling (Sara) actually won the award for Best Actress at the European Film Awards. In the film, Sara is a bitchy, uptight crime writer who goes to France for some peace and quiet to stay at her publisher’s holiday home. When Sara arrives, she is greeted by her publisher’s wild, sexy daughter who takes the peace and quiet out of the getaway.

There is just one reason to watch this movie: Ludvine Sagnier. This beautiful, French actress will help you sit through the movie. Imagine a cleaner, more real Tara Reid and that is what you get from Sagnier. Overall, this movie is terrible and the ending is a joke.

It was almost like the director had no idea how he wanted to end this movie so he just slipped in some crazy flash backs. The worst part is, just when you think you are about to get a Laurel Canyon like three some, the movie shifts and someone gets killed. If you rent this one, just fast forward through most of the movie and only watch when Sagnier is on the screen.
