Summary
Two groups of street-tough dancers square off in a series of off the hook competitions. Dreams and dancing pride are at stake.
Review
Serving up dance moves that leave your mouth agape and beats that leave your head bobbing, this is a surprisingly entertaining flick. The scenes that result in one group being “served” (i.e. losing the competition and feeling ashamed in front of a legion of cheering fans inside of an boxing ring auditorium) are breathtaking. I’ve never seen so many dope moves and actors dropping their talent like it’s hot. No, seriously.
While the dancing sequences are truly astounding, the dialogue, story line and acting leave something to be desired, namely logic and any semblance of reality. Nevertheless, the sights (and you see A LOT of her) and sounds of Lil’ Kim as a judge are worth the time of viewing alone. Throw in Steve Harvey in his most serious role to date and servings of unintentional comedy are off the scale.
