Summary
Covert super secret agent, otherwise known as XXX, is back. State of the Union makes an attempt to comment on the current day power struggle that many view within the context of the current White House administration. The President is a good guy surrounded by evil-doers bent on destroying our country. Special agent Darius Stone (Ice Cube) won’t let this happen. He brings the streets to the battle- the battle to the streets.
Review
Look XXX is what it is an easy, if not juvenile joyride. Darius Stone (Ice Cube) delivers what he supposed to- a rough and tumble no nonsense attitude. Those who are up to no good better beware.
Darius Stone (Ice Cube) is the latest addition to the XXX franchise. He brings a take no prisoner attitude and thug-like mentality to police work. Perps beware, XXX is ready to take you down Compton style.
Though at times corny, State of the Union does what it supposed entertain with the highest degree of hyperbole possible. You are not supposed to say “that could never happen” You’re supposed to say “not only could that happen but XXX is the only person that could make it happen.” XXX doesn’t save individuals or mere cities, he saves planets. Ice Cube delivers. State of the Union is not going to win any awards at Cannes but it will give X the chance to kick some serious ass.
