Review
I remember being ten years old when this first came out and according to my parents was way to young to watch it but somehow, at a friends sleepover we managed to get a copy and watched it late at night. Boy was that a mistake. While the movie isn’t that ‘jumpy’ kind of scary or even that gorey (besides a few rotting corpses), it is extremely cerebral and psychological. While I’m sure my ten year old mind couldn’t quite wrap myself around it at the time, in subsequent viewings, a great appreciation has formed.
Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman make an excellent team as the young eager cop and wiley old verteran cop. They track a reclusive killer who likes to play games with them except this time the prey is smarter than the hunter. This movie is very entertaining and more of a seat of your pants suspense thriller than a horror or action movie.
Once again, David Fincher (Fight Club) does a amazing job directing and has a very unique style. I won’t ruin the ending but I only gave it four beers because I really, I mean really want to see what is in the box.
