Short Summary

Yes, there is such a thing as a pet detective and Jim Carrey is the funniest one out there. Actually I think he’s the only one out there.

Review

This is not Jim Carrey’s first movie, but it is his first time starring and carrying a film. Back in ’94 Carrey was fresh off In Living Color, and red hot. Playing Ace Ventura, Carrey is able to show his comedic genius and commit fully to the role. Not to mention his hair is awesome.

When the Miami Dolphins mascot Snowflake the dolphin is kidnapped, Ace is called in to crack the case. Ace tracks the trail and gathers clues that lead him to Ray Finkle, former Dolphins kicker that blew a game winning kick and was driven out of Miami due to public scrutiny. When Ace discovers Finkle isn’t quite who he though he was, things really get interesting.

This is a really fun movie that pretty much anyone can enjoy. Ace talks through his ass, makes several crude jokes and has countless classic one liners. The bad acting cameo from Dolphin great Dan Marino makes the movie complete.

My Opinion

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) is a very good movie must watch with your family.
